ABOUT

Paulo Zereu

Paulo Zereu is a classical pianist, educator, and cultural advocate whose life and career have been shaped by an enduring dialogue between cultures. Born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, his musical foundation was formed early and strengthened through extensive studies and performances across Europe, before finding a long term home in Asia. Now based in Bangkok, Paulo brings together the expressive warmth of Brazilian musical heritage, the rigor of European classical studies, and a deep commitment to education and cultural exchange.

Equally at home on stage and in the academic world, his work reflects a lifelong devotion to the piano, teaching, and performance at an international level. Whether performing, recording, or mentoring the next generation of musicians, Paulo approaches music with humility, discipline, and a sincere belief in its power to connect people across borders.

Education and Artistic Formation

Paulo’s musical journey began at an early age under the guidance of his mother, Professor Déa Zereu. He later pursued formal studies at the Institute of Arts of Rio Grande do Sul State University, where he studied with Professor Lucila di Primio Conceição and earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. Shortly after graduating, he joined the same institution as a piano professor, beginning a career that would naturally balance performance and teaching.

Awarded a scholarship by the Polish government, Paulo continued his postgraduate studies at the Kraków Academy of Music, working with Professors Ewa Bukojemska and Jerzy Tosik Warszawiak. During this period, he also completed diploma courses in Polish Language and History at Jagiellonian University, deepening his understanding of cultural and historical context alongside his artistic development.

His European formation continued in Germany, where he undertook postgraduate studies at the Karlsruhe University of Music with Professor André Boainain, followed by advanced studies at the Cologne University of Music, Wuppertal branch, under Professor Josef Anton Scherrer. There, he completed the Künstlerische Abschlussprüfung, Master’s Degree in Piano Performance, and later formal study in Music Pedagogy at the Akademie für Musikpädagogik in Mainz.
